UNIT 2- GOING TO MOVIES

 GOING TO MOVIES.

My favorite movie is:

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts 2023.

127 minutes

During the 1990s, the Maximals, Predacons and Terrorcons join the ongoing battle on Earth between the Autobots and Decepticons.

Optimus Prime and the Autobots face their greatest challenge in this adrenaline-filled adventure. A new threat appears capable of destroying the entire planet, forcing them to join forces with a powerful faction called the Maximals. With the fate of humanity in danger, Noah (Anthony Ramos) and Elena (Dominique Fishback) will have to do whatever it takes to help the Transformers as they face the ultimate battle to save the Earth.

Genre: Action

GRAMMAR 1:

THE PRESENT PERFECT- FOR AND SINCE; OTHER USER OF THE PRESENT PERFECT.

The present perfect tense is used to talk about past actions or states that are still connected to the present. It is formed using the auxiliary verbs "have" or "has" and the past participle of the main verb.

The present perfect can be used with the words "for" and "since" to define a period of time before now, either by considering its duration (for + a period of time) or by considering its starting point (since + a point in time).

The present perfect with for is used to talk about actions that have been happening for a specific length of time. The length of time is usually stated with a time expression, such as for a year, for two weeks, or since 1992.

EXAMPLE: I have been living in Colombia for five years.

The present perfect with since is used to talk about actions that started at a specific point in the past and continue up to the present. The specific point in time is usually stated with a time expression, such as since January, since yesterday, or since I was a child.

EXAMPLE: I have been living in Bogotá since I was a child.

I have been working at this company since 2015.

GRAMMAR 2:

WAYS TO EXPRESS WANTS AND PREFERENCE.

There are several ways to express wants and preferences using "would like" and "would rather." Here are some examples and explanations:
  1. Would like: This phrase is used to express a preference or desire for something. It can be used in various situations, both formal and informal.
For example, "I would like to try this new restaurant" or "I would like to learn more about this topic."
  1. Would rather: This phrase is used to express a stronger preference or desire for one thing over another. It is often used when choosing between two options.
For example, "I would rather stay home tonight than go out" or "I would rather have a salad than a burger"

Here are some examples of how to use "would like" and "would rather" in sentences:
  • I would like to learn more about this topic.
  • I would rather have a salad than a burger.
  • She would like to travel more often.
  • He would rather stay at home than go to the party.
Remember that the verb form and tense should be consistent when using "would like" and "would rather."
  • For example, if you're using the present tense, both "would like" and "would rather" should be in the present tense as well.
  • For example, "I would like to learn more about this topic" or "I would rather have a salad than a burger."
In formal situations, "would like" is often considered more polite than "would rather." However, "would rather" can be used in informal settings to express a stronger preference
